It started on my city- and beach bike

Before I ever clipped into a mountainbike, I was into all kinds of sports: acrobatics, gymnastics, survival runs. But cycling became part of my life out of pure necessity: five days a week, 20 kilometers each day, on a really old and heavy city bike. My riding partner? Friends on an e-bike… so you can imagine who did all the pedaling.

When I was 17, I discovered beachracing. Races were never about results – they were about having fun with my friends and family, chasing the wind and the waves.

From XCO to XCM

A move from the north to the east of the Netherlands changed everything. Suddenly, we had “mountains” – I could ride three minutes uphill! That’s where I first tried mountain biking and fell in love with the sport: the nature, speed, adrenaline, people, and the challenge to grow.

At 21, I started working with my coach Reza Ravenstijn  and quickly progressed to race for the Dutch National Federation at European and World Championships.

At 22, I followed my heart and switched to marathon racing because I love long rides, adventures, and pushing myself. I was ready to give it my all as a young marathon rider.

Go with the Flow

In 2023, I proudly joined the BUFF-Megamo Team – a project to develop myself in the marathon world. In my debut season I became European Champion, Dutch Champion, and earned multiple World Cup podiums. None of this would have been possible without the support and environment of my team.

Today

Fast forward to 2025: I’m leading the UCI Marathon World Rankingand the HERO Marathon World Cups. My goal is to keep growing as an athlete, inspire others to chase their dreams, and represent my team and sponsors with passion and professionalism.
